Longfield was asked to renovate an older home to accommodate the lifestyle needs of a growing family in Columbia's Lake Katharine neighborhood. Following an extensive demolition, we opened up the floor plan. Our clients now enjoy a newly renovated multifunctional sunroom/playroom area for their children, an open living and dining room area, an enlarged state of the art chef’s kitchen, and a new, expansive deck opening off the breakfast room. Honed marble, leathered granite, Thermador appliances, new modern lighting and beautiful hardwood floors were selected to complete the look.

The owners trusted Longfield to design and build their "forever home." Longfield drafted designs for the new home to take advantage of the property's hill overlooking Lake Katharine. Longfield designed and built a raised cottage in the southern vernacular tradition in McClellanville, SC. Our clients decided to downsize. To meet their current family configuration and to be able to age in place in their next home, they bought two adjoining condos in a historic high rise building on University Hill in Columbia. They combined the two apartments into one unit with a more open floor plan. They asked Longfield to handle the total renovation. Longfield collaborated with the owner to design and build a pool house in Wales Gardens with a full kitchen with a built-in gas grill, wood-burning fireplace, and bathroom. We utilized an existing brick wall as part of the building of a new covered structure. The classically inspired pool house contains beautiful tile floors with matching brick borders, Tuscan columns, and a pergola to completely enclose the backyard. Our clients use this private oasis in the heart of Columbia to entertain their family and friends on a regular basis in all seasons and any weather.
